Some people know this story, but at the beginning of the Black - TopicsExpress

Some people know this story, but at the beginning of the Black Forest fire, Pine Creek High School was turned into the command center used by hundreds of firefighters. The school was gated off and nobody was allowed in without special access. Then, the Pine Creek Eagles Football team showed up. They needed their weights for pre-season workouts. They were allowed in for about 30 minutes and the coaches and players loaded weights & equipment into their vehicles, moving everything to Challenger Middle School. Even though some were under evacuation and many were scared (over 40 PC students & faculty lost homes), the TEAM continued to work out together and prepare for their season. At Homecoming, they unveiled special black jerseys with One Team across the back nameplates and a Black Forest fire emblem as they played for their community. From that point forward, the Eagles never lost a game and barely let anyone get close - all the way to Mile High Stadium for the championship game. 49-14. Monday, we got to see One Team again in their black jerseys, hoisting the State Championship trophy and presenting it to the school and the community. No surprise. They never stopped WORKING HARD. They never stopped being united by actual blood, sweat, and tears. And cheers. This is a special team, coached by amazing coaches and representing a community that is very proud. We are very proud, indeed. We are... Pine Creek. And where are my Pine Creek Eagles Football players as I write this (on a 7 degree, snowy afternoon immediately following the season)? In the weight room, of course.
