Some things only come through obedience: As a follower of Jesus - TopicsExpress

Some things only come through obedience: As a follower of Jesus I must at times be willing to hear hard truths about life, surrender, and free will. One battle I believe every believer, and every person for that fact, will face at one point in their life is to question God about what they are to do with their life. The answer to what God wants you to do is Obey Are you mad yet? Yeah, thats my initial response to not being the creator of the universe to. So many times people ask God What is your will when they dont know how to proceed. His will is that you obey..period. His will and your calling are not the same. Most of the time we are not looking to be in his will as much as we are looking for some greater purpose, something of comfort and meaning that is in line with what we already think we should have. The question has nothing to do with his will, it has to do with ours. Is obedience hard? My opinion is there is nothing harder, but, who do you serve? If my first step in obedience is to trust and believe that he is there, and he proves it, isnt the next step taken from more firm ground. The command to obey is a hard truth that comes with the accountability to make a decision to do so. I dont serve a wishy washy bi polar God who cant make up his mind so I need to make it up for him, no. I serve a king who became a servant of grace that takes every morsel of desire to obey and trust him as a precious step back into his presence not away from it. Please be tender as you speak to those who are afraid of the unknown, dont hammer them with some concept of failure because they dont have an idea of what they are to become or do. Dont tear them down with their lack of faith or magnitude of failures. Encourage one another to step into obedience. Its not about obeying enough to earn merit, its about obeying the father so that he can lift you from the fear of uncertainty. When you receive him he sees you in perfect glory and is willing to walk faithfully with you until you see yourself the same way, but it comes at his side, listening to him, relying on him and trusting that he is not waiting to destroy them. What is the fathers will? That you hear his voice and dont reject him as he tries to restore relationship with you. Dont set standards for him to meet on your terms, allow him to meet you, thats it. Be willing to hear, and understand Jesus never glorified himself, he was always in surrender to obeying the father. He proclaimed the fathers will, to be received by his creation. Judgment isnt hate, its for all who refuse to receive..it is the result of our will to reject his hand of mercy. That is another hard truth, but one for which we are all accountable for. Should we pursue anything less than his voice?
