Some thoughts from Isaiah 14 You said in your heart, “I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.[b] 14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.” 5 But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit. 16 Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: “Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble, 17 the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?” The message to the King of Babylon after God restored Israel. As the context goes to the king of Babylon, Gods message is still clear to us. Whether we voice it or not, God condemns a prideful heart. All sin starts within the heart. It is not necessarily how it carries out, but the thoughts that are birthed and grown in the heart. Jesus speaks against the same thing in Matthew 5. It was said in his heart that the king would be mighty and powerful. Theres a difference between being like God....holy as He is holy and being God. We all fall short when we take God out of the equation of our lives and try to take control. Whether we say it or not, is there pride in your heart? Do you think you can do whatever situation you are in without God? If you say no, which I hope you do, why dont we trust God? If we trust in God, why does this not impact the way we pray and seek Him? If you are one who likes to take matters into your own hands then do so by taking the matters with your own hands to the throne of God and leave it there. God is the only King. Only He can be Lord, not you, not me, not anyone. Pursue to be like God in holiness, not like a god in pride.
