Something cool happened yesterday. It was my daughters third - TopicsExpress

Something cool happened yesterday. It was my daughters third birthday, and as a true daughter of mine, she wanted pizza for her birthday dinner. Ive been doing flexible dieting , aka IIFYM (if it fits your macros), to lose my pregnancy weight. With this method of fat loss, no foods are off limits. Anything goes, as long as its within your allotted macros (protein, carbs and fats) for that day. When I first started, I was afraid this might be a slippery slope for me that would lead to me just eating junk most of the time. But Ive continued eating clean (according to my definition, which includes protein bars and shakes) for the majority of my food intake, and just fitting in other foods as I choose. It keeps my from obsessing about my next cheat meal and thinking about food all the time. Normally, birthdays or any other special occasion would be an occasion for me to LEAP off the wagon and binge in all the pizza and cake I could cram in my stomach, because tomorrow I will get back on track with clean eating. This time, though, I had a protein shake before we left the house so I wouldnt be overly hungry when we got to the restaurant, and then heres the cool thing that happened: I had ONE piece of our appetizer (a buffalo chicken roll), ONE slice of pizza and my daughters crust, and ONE normal-human-sized piece of cake. And that was it! I was satisfied with that! I couldnt believe it! No gorging, no losing control, no guilt; none of mess that Id dealt with before. I DID still end up going over my macros later that evening, but not because Id lost control. And I didnt use that as an excuse for a free-for-all. Before IIFYM, that pretty much never happened! I weighed this morning just out of curiosity, and I was up .4 lbs, which is probably water retention from all the salt in the pizza, and will likely be right back down tomorrow morning. I cant even tell you how excited this makes me. It feels like I have really turned a corner in my relationship with food, and I look forward to continuing this way for quite some time! You can check out IIFYM if youd like to learn more about it, and use their free calculator to see what your approximate macros should be! I dont think flexible dieting is necessarily the answer for everyone, but if what youre doing isnt working, its worth researching! My mom has also had great success with it, and a few fitness celebs that are also flexible dieters are Layne Norton, Team Bodybuilding Athlete Brandan Fokken, and his gorgeous wife, Amber Dawn Orton- National Level Bikini Competitor/Fitness Model. Let me know what you think! Im by no means an expert, but Id be happy to answer any questions you have, too! Just post them below!
