Something strange happened this morning. At around 6am this morning we heard calls of a baby. I told Tracy and she told me she thought it was one of my babies so we decided to take a walk around and when we got to the back where the cages are we saw a tiny baby screaming trying to get into Fransies cage. With the wild troop on the roof and the garden troop on the ground close to the baby. Tracy hurried and picked the tot up. We did count with the graden troop and Fransies cage and all had their babies. The wild troop didnt react at all to the babies screams or us picking him up. His face has dirt around his mouth from his desperation for food he attempted to eat dirt. We believe that one of the two troops picked this boy up and carried him for a while before dumping him by the cages. We dont think he comes from the wild troop so he is probably an orphan from a neighboring troops that was calling close to the borders and was picked up by one of our two troops. Even carried by other monkeys he would still call for his mother and this usually results in the monkeys who pick the orphans up getting frustrated and leaving the babies behind , Often biting them to get them to let go. Luckily he is unharmed and in our care and Luckily the two troops were on the property when they decided to dump him.He was very hungry and distressed. We have named him Ollie and he is up for adoption for R150 per month if anyone would like to contribute to his care? He is about three weeks old..
