[Something to think about] Doug Richards shares his views on a few common issues in sports, both from the physical and psychological point of view. If you are a coach, a PE teacher, an athlete or just a weekend warrior, do hear him out. Interesting points to ponder. A clinical sport physician, he opposes No Pain No Gain. Muscle soreness is common, but it is never ok to feel pain in your joints. That is called an injury. Always learn to move properly before making the movement repetitive to avoid overuse injuries. Learn to respect others, and more importantly respect yourself. It is not ok to blindly accept verbal or mental abuse from a coach. Physical abuse is a no brainer. You should never get kicked or slapped when you cant perform. If you are constantly humiliated and verbally abused by your coach, voice up and seek advise. He also disagrees to these common sayings - Winning at all cost, Winning is not the most important thing in sport, it is the only thing. Because, It is not about winning and losing. It is about how we play the game. Foods for thought. youtu.be/zmTZSbMg_Pk
