Sometimes I wonder why I watch tsunami videos, odds are Ill never be able to try my theories ... and then yesterday a new idea that will work to redirect flow in the harbors with hillsides, this breaks the incoming waves up the hill and aims it back to push water to the opposite side instead of continuing as it would, this idea using angled breakwaters, not the more theoretical offshore system. Watching wave patterns from the tsunami it actually was many, after the initial quake hundreds of aftershocks happened, there were 5 big ones over M7, 2 M8s that added to the waves and now known to be the cause of the extended shaking in many places. What this did was also cause tsunami waves from odd directions so thats part of the growing solution as able to deal with this on the fly as it happens. This is a shorter video showing the waves on a far shore breaking up against the enclosing hills, rather shakey, the guy shooting has a boat in the harbor so watching it get wiped out and the wave that broke was about 50-feet on the back side, it broke to 80-90 foot of white water at first and got to them on the road. This also shows well how much water is entering the bay and ultimately thats what the offshore systems is intended to deal with. 1:40: youtube/watch?v=23Q4TBf_FKY
