Sometimes you blink, and a decade has gone by. I have vivid, fresh as five-minutes-ago memories of the winter of 2005, a strange transitional period in my life when I was splitting my time among jobs as an overnight stock boy in the Wegmans freezer section, the cash register at the now-defunct Transit Road Barnes & Noble and various freelance journalism assignments. One of the best is from the night I borrowed a camera from Artvoice and stood in the back of the Main Street Cabaret to tape this show for my friend Matthew. He had adapted it, rather masterfully, from Eric Marcus landmark book Making Gay History for Buffalo United Artists. It holds up remarkably well and is worth watching for anyone interested in the history of the gay rights movement or its various forgotten heroes:
