Somewhere after March 19-25, 1865 (Battle of Bentonville, NC), Old Reliable General William Joseph Hardee guided his war torn troops into Greensboro, NC and positioned them in surrounding areas in preparation for one final charge against Sherman and his Union forces. A battle that never happened. Hardee along with General Joesph E. Johnson, surrendered to Sherman on April 26th, 1865. Troops scattered throughout these parts camped and awaited orders for what was next. Finally receiving orders that this brutal conflict was finally over these weary heros that truly gave all literally dropped everything and mustered out to be reunited with family and friends after 4 long years of this Nations worst conflict. Loving history we embarked on a journey ourselves. Diving into research to uncover potential stopping points of these brave men, we finally after 2-4 years of research and networking for evidence of existence, uncovered those 150 year old treasures. Although not the biggest or the best we are certainly pleased to know all of our hard work finally paid off and today we offer a part of our discovery with you. It appears to be a scattered part of Hardees South Carolina Artillery Division mingled with some Calvary and Infantry. To the trained eye you will notice some remarkably Rare finds such as two Calvary buttons (CS-128 Chatwin and Sons, Birmingham, England), extremely rare Girardy artillery fuse primers. To date around 50 Cannister Shot, confederate friction primers in the hundreds (Some say the most rare of all). We hope you enjoy our discovery with you. Happy Saturday!
