Somewhere in that state, not fully asleep yet not fully awake, it happened. There it was! Just like that! A question sounding deep in my heart. Whatever became of holiness It was not a subject upon which I had been thinking. But there it was - whatever became of holiness - God was saying you need to get hold of this. The conversation the Holy Spirit began in my heart those days ago has only intensified. That first night following the question came a reminder. I recalled a book I read in the late seventies- early eighties entitled Whatever became of sin. Far too often we see the ravages of sin among professing believers and the extent to which the Church has adopted the worlds values. Too often we seem to ignore the erosion taking place at the edges of our Christian experience; principles that have been laid down by the word of God are tossed aside as no longer relevant. Paul writes, It wont make any difference how much good you are getting from this world or how much you like it. This world as we know it is passing away. 1 Cor. 7:31 CEV The message that has reverberated in my heart is that holiness and sin matter to God, and the more we comprehend their true nature, the more they will matter to us.
