Sooooo, this Paris shooting thing has me pretty furious. Not the sort of ignorance I like to wake up to. Im tired of people using fairy tales to justify killing other people. Over an image of someone/thing you dont even know what it looked like. Everybody thinks that there isnt anything wrong with their beliefs. And there isnt, as long as it stays only affecting your life. But murdering people that offend you is a perpetually ineffective cycle of stupidity. To think that you can haphazardly extinguish life because you got your feelings hurt makes you akin to the likes of a sniffling, batshit crazy infant. You must earn respect and if you feel disrespected, that doesnt give you license to assign and carry out your own form of justice you see fit as penance. No matter what your faith tells you. Faith is not law. Faith is a belief. A belief is just someone elses idea that you think sounds like a good explanation for the unknown. The special treatment given to all religion is a disservice to the human race and make us enablers to a problem far greater than any we were capable of fathoming when we decided it was a good idea to do so. Im tired of living in fear of offending people for their most offensive of thoughts. This is not the world I want my child to live in. One that is dictated by superstitions. One that values and rewards speculation over fact. And uses those speculations as an acceptable entitlement to discriminate against, ridicule, and harm anyone/thing they deem unholy, heretical, or evil. When the alleged good in the world becomes the proven evil, we must reevaluate where we stand as a species. The need for control and regulating of situations/society that fall into accord with our personal beliefs is the sort of behavior that is commonplace for toddlers and pre-Tweens. Is this the furthest weve evolved? Do we still hunger for the stale comfort of the cave we crawled out of? Are we so tied to the past (by guilt or reverence) that we assign so much value to the sanctity of tradition that were willing to overlook anything weve learned and disregard other peoples lives? You dont kill people that offend you. You dont harm people that offend. You just shut up, look the other way, go on your merry way, and trust that somewhere in your vacuum of superstition your wish for justice to befall the perpetrator of your faith will be carried out by your deity. To act in any other manner means that you dont really believe in your belief. A just incase sense of vigilante justice is proof of the amount of a lack of faith you actually have in a god capable of killing anyone that pisses them off. With all the ways to kill people, I doubt they need your help issuing mortal pink slips. Martyrs are not messengers. There is no reward awaiting you. The idea that there is one is the most cynical take on any vapor of thoughtless thought processes. Stop encouraging each other to act like children. There is no lollipop awaiting you at the end of this for how many times you tried to get your way at the expense of others.
