Soooooo....way late on my feelings about Clybourne Park at Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park....and my apologies to cast, crew and theatre fans alike. This is a special play which REALLY hit home for Norah Cusick Mock and I. It deals with a Chicago suberb in the 1950s as the homeowners deal for the first time with the selling of a house to a black family. The second act looks at the same house 50 years later as the n-hood is going thru a revitalization (some might use the word gentrification), with people moving back to take advantage of the architecture and proximity to the city. Sound familiar? Can you say OTR? The play is up to ALL the wonderful standards weve come to expect from Playhouse: acting (the same actors play different parts in the first and second acts), sets, lighting, etc. The play is full of laughs, heartache, and some truly thought provoking dialogue and ideas. Well worth your time! EXTRA BONUS: On the preview night we attended, the play was followed by a talk back, with a moderator asking questions and soliciting a vibrant discussion between about 100 of us who stayed. If it is offered when you attend, I encourage you to stay!
