Sorry for the long post. It appears that Ive created quite a storm in the proverbial teacup. However, Im being serious for once and I know that my 596 friends out there will read every word. (Those not from Bridgnorth should note that the point was to take the rise out of our local FB groups and some of the comments/threads that often crop up). Both Malcolm MacINTYRE-READ (sic) and David Seipel have got their knickers in a twist about my Downfall parody. Unfortunately, although they read that way, their letters are not parodies. Their beef is with me for making it and Cllr James Gittins for sharing it. Ive redacted some Mr Seipels letter because it is irrelevant with regard to me. I dont mind being called a git but I strongly object to being called a racist. As for Mr Seipels would you let your mother, or your child, watch it? you couldnt make it up. Hes also wrong about Downfall parodies in Germany. Anyway, Id better get on with it before plod comes knocking on my door. Malcolm wrote to all the Town Councillors and David replied. P. Seipel. What state was this git in when he/she created and posted such derogatory vulgarity? And it is excused as being light hearted!!! Bridgnorth may have been on a Nazi list, but this content confirms the current political culture of creating fear, encouraging hatred and blaming scapegoats. Is this how BTC wants to be presented and perceived? If not, can you be bothered to do something about it… just for once? Malcolm MacINTYRE-READ Davids reply:- Dear Mr MacIntyre-Read and Fellow Councillors, and Ms Wilson I found the language unforgivable. It made me cringe. Just what is this Council coming to when a Councillor, and Chairman of two committees, publicizes such stuff? I know some Councillors do not condemn it, but I ask them, would you let your mother, or your child, watch it? The video is unfairly critical of Bridgnorth and the Council. Being of German extraction, which I cannot help, I also take it as a racial slur. I hope nobody in our twin town Schrobenhausen watches it, and I can tell Councillors that the action of posting it in Germany would be a very serious criminal offence, with almost certain imprisonment. REDACTED I have reported it to the Monitoring Officer, and am making a formal complaint to the Police under Race laws. REDACTED So, Mr MacIntyre-Read, to answer your question, I CAN be bothered to do something, I am prepared to stand up and be counted, and I also wish you had not given the video further currency by publishing it to all Councillors.
