Sorry for the seriously long delay in putting this up... Thanks Angie Scott for the Neigh Nomination.....this was such a tough choice because I’m so lucky to have had the opportunity to have and to ride lots of amazing ponies over the years....! I’ve narrowed it down to six!! Three of my own and three I rode for Kirstine Douglas!! Shandy, the ultimate school master, jumping against the clock one minute with me and then taking care of Kyla Davidson the next!! He knew the capabilities of the jockey and how to look after them! We did show jumping, mounted games, working hunter and cross country! One night at Barend he even carried on jumping once I’d slithered out the side door! He is still going strong at Halmyre, although a little steadier at 38 years young! Saranu Tarquin, my 12.2hh show pony/show hunter pony! When his owners were selling him the cruel people that mum (Jane) and Kirstine are told me I had to say good bye to him one night....I didn’t want to go, there were floods of tears but when I saw him he was covered in Happy Birthday rosettes and sashes!!! He was mine! Although he used to dump me at the gate everytime...sometimes almost in the ditch he was a fantastic pony. We were always one off qualifying for RIHS or HOYS being 2nd or 3rd on numerous occasions, his best would have been 1st and reserve champion at BSPS Summer Champs 1996, when I left the ring in an ambulance!! (Not his fault!) My all time favourite pony at Kirstine’s was Fair Zebedee (Zebs), I could always be found in his stable getting hugs and kisses!! He was such a lovely character and I was so lucky to be allowed to ride him before he was sold....that broke my heart!! He took me to RIHS after I learned I had to gallop because I’d had a few near misses!! We jumped too...and boy he could jump! Jeez, tissues required! A very close favourite behind him has to be Blyth Choir Boy (Bly). I helped Kirstine break this baby, he was a cheeky poppet and if I landed on the deck, which he managed to achieve quite often, then he’d give me a kick to teach me a lesson!! I still have some scars to prove it....I will never forget Peter Emerson asking me if I hadn’t managed to learn to stay on him yet!! Bly took me down the centre line at the BSPS winter championships! It is only a couple of years ago that I was down the field playing on him, he is still young at heart and loves to pop a fence!! The there was Langfield Dragon Rock (Rocky) the Thelwell!! He took me to HOYS and we had lots of fun and wins together on the flat and in WHP! Finally....and sorry this is seriously long! There is Chalky! Bred by Kirstine I’ve known him forever....and he will stay with me forever!! He is my best friend, giving kisses and cuddles when I need them! Then there is his cheeky trick that Kirstine taught him....he reserves in to you so you scratch between his legs! I only wish I had the time still to compete on him, he jumps for fun and clears any fence by miles, which often ended in my stomach rising to near my mouth!! Now Id like to nominate Caroline Orr and Hannah Sloan
