Speech time. The hosting Ambassador and the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs address the assembled dignitaries from an elevated podium. The night behind the speakers’ is pitch black. Each congratulates the other’s country’s achievements. Like everyone else, I politely and quietly listen and look on…. and then I see something bizarre. My mind can’t figure it out. A long “V-shape” of orange light dances above the speakers. It seems just behind them, but that’s an optical illusion. It’s a massive bush fire on the hill above Boisierre Village, Maraval. (Marc)
