Spike was a family dog for 8 years but now they are moving and dumped Spike in the shelter. According to the family Spike sounds like a great dog so does he deserve the shelter? I think not a family to love him sounds like the move Spike needs. Please help Spike move to his new family and forever home. A volunteer writes: "Spike was surrendered by his owner of 8 years because they are moving and cannot take Spike with them. Spikes owner states that he is housetrained, likes kids, likes dogs that are not bigger than him, lived with cats and is friendly to strangers. When I met Spike I was so taken by how quietly he sat in his kennel waiting for his turn to go out. Upon leaving the shelter, Spike immediately took care of business and walked quite calmly. When we passed another dog Spike did take notice and then continued walking. He was well taken care of as his weight and caramel and white coat appear healthy. After taking a nice walk to the park, we went into the yard for some playtime. Spike sits beautifully on command. Spike loves the ball and is extremely energetic for his age of 8 years. Spike bounced around the pen retrieving the ball many times and then came in for some cuddle time; I petted him, hugged him and he snuggled up next to me enjoying every minute. Spike has many years left to enjoy his life; come meet him at the Manhattan Care center and take him home.
