#Sports #Football #Under-17 The Golden Eaglets thrashed their Iranian opponents 4-1 on Tuesday to advance into the quarter final stage where they will confront Uruguay on November 2 at the Sharjah Stadium. The Nigerian team has now scored 18 goals and conceded five in four matches. The other quarter finalists are Honduras, Sweden, Argentina, Cote d’Ivoire, Brazil and Mexico. The Eaglets were made to wait till the 23rd minute before left-back, Samuel Okon opened the scores. Kelechi Iheanacho followed that up with the second goal two minutes afterwards to put the Nigerians on a better keel. But there was a blow to the Nigerian team in the 32nd minute as Iheanacho, been scouted by Arsenal, had to leave the pitch injured. The five- goal striker was replaced by Chidera Ezeh. Musa Muhammed scored the third goal in the 42nd minute to put the Nigerians in a very comfortable position as the first half ended. The second half was a stroll for the Eaglets and they got their fourth goal in the 76th minute through Musa Yahaya and the Iranians scored their consolation goal in the 84th minute through Ali Gholizadeh. The Iranians had conceded just two goals in the group stage but they came unstuck against a slick passing Nigerian team. Coach Manu Garba will be apprehensive on the injury as it means the two main attacking threats coming into this championship – Isaac Success and Iheanacho are now doubts for the quarter final match against Uruguay on Saturday.
