Spot light photographer-Rupa Sutton spends a little time with me- Carol Billy Roberts. Can you say how excited and stoked I am!!!! I am so excited to share with you our Spot light photographer Rupa Sutton. You can find more information about her and view her amazing photographs on her facebook page https://facebook/RupaSuttonPhotography Carol -Thank you Rupa for joining us at Inspire Digital or Not Fine Art Photography Magazine. We are thrilled you are willing to take a little moment of your time and share with us a little bit about you. Tell us Rupa what does photography mean to you? Rupa Sutton- Photography for me is about capturing or creating a moment that tells a story or conveys an emotion. I want to show people the world that exists all around us but that we don’t always see. When I go out with my camera, I loose myself in color and light. While I capture my vision through the lens, I also love the editing process where I can really let my creativity run free. Carol - We see so many of your beautiful images with such gorgeous backgrounds and scenery.... where you do you call home? Rupa - Home is Kansas. We lived in California and Virginia previously and never in a million years would I have thought I would one day call Kansas home…but it is and I love it. I guess I’m just a country girl at heart and it doesn’t hurt that the skyscapes here are just amazing. Carol -How did you get your start in photography? Rupa -- I have always needed a creative outlet. I started out with drawing and painting and got a degree in Fine Art. After having kids, I switched to sewing, quilting and knitting for some time. Throughout, I was always taking lots of pictures but without really knowing anything. I got serious about photography when I bought my horse. I wanted to be able to capture her beauty. I took my first photography class, which was on learning to shoot in manual, in March of 2013 and finally found the perfect creative outlet I’d been searching for my whole life. I haven’t lookedback since. Carol -What inspires you most about photography? Only using one word? Rupa -Light. The way it changes and affects color, mood and emotion. Carol -Speaking then Rupa of light. What is your favorite lighting? Rupa Sutton-Natural light and especially backlight. Carol - Rupa we all want to know what is in that lovely camera bag of yours? Rupa- My 24-70 2.8L, 70-200 2.8L, and 5dMark III with the 100L macro on it. Carol-Do you work alone or with a team Rupa? Rupa- I work alone 99% of the time. Occasionally, if my daughter isn’t in front of the camera, she’ll come along on a client shoot to help out. Carol- What type of editing software do you choose to use? If so, what are some of your favorites? Rupa- I use lightroom and photoshop. I couldn’t live without photoshop. It’s where I play. Carol- Thank you so much for sharing some of your world with us. One more question if you dont mind. What is the best advice you could share with our readers that maybe you learned from another fellow photographer that has helped you with your journey in photography? Rupa- Jen Carver told me early on to only shoot what I love and I have pretty much always stuck to that. It keeps my creativity and passion alive.! Thank you so much for being apart of Inspire Digital or Not Fine Art Photography Magazine. https://facebook/inspirefineartphotographymagazine
