North and East London has some of the best cardiovascular experts in the country. Clinicians from Barts Health NHS Trust, University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) and further afield are working together to create a single specialist centre for cardiovascular disease to cover all our local communities. You will be joining us at an incredibly exciting time, as we realise a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to improve services for todays patients and future generations and create a world class cardiovascular service. Our brand new, state of the art cardiovascular centre at St Bartholomews Hospital will open in early 2015. The new service will allow us to bring together our existing unique experience and research activity, helping us grow the number of patients who get the chance to take part in clinical trials and increase our understanding of and ability to address the root causes of cardiovascular diseases. In order to staff the expansion of the critical care unit we are looking to recruit experienced critical care nurses and nurses with a minimum of 12 months acute care experience. For our world-class service, we need a world-class workforce. You will be a dynamic, motivated team player and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, with empathy and compassion at the heart of the care that you provide. You will be expected to deliver high quality care within the framework of a multi-disciplinary team. We recognise your personal and professional development is crucial to the success of the service. We will investment in competency based pathways, specialist courses, post graduate study, development of teaching and coaching skills to create a progressive workforce equipped to provide our specialist service. Your knowledge base will be reaffirmed as you rotate through the critical care areas caring for patients following cardiac surgery, GUCH surgery, minimally invasive valve replacements and complex cardiology patients admitted through an expanded Heart Attack Centre. The unit also provides support for patients with respiratory conditions including cystic fibrosis as well as supporting patients in multi organ failure.
