Stand up to racism and fascism rally 22nd March, 11:00 – 16:30, Parliament Square A day of action against racism and fascism has been called across Europe to coincide with the United Nations Anti-Racism Day. Young workers survey As part of the TUC’s Young Workers Month, UNISON is launching a survey of young workers to help identify what concerns them most at work, and in the wider world. All young members (under the age of 27) are encouraged to take part in the survey, but it is not restricted simply to UNISON members – non-members can also participate. The information collected will be used to inform our bargaining and campaigning agenda. The survey closes on 17 March, with the aim of having results available in time for the TUC Young Workers Conference at the end of March. Counting the cost of council cuts for women As part of UNISON’s Save Our Local Services campaign, we are writing a new report that exposes the damage local government cuts have caused for women, both as council staff and users of council services. Seminar for African Migrant Workers Do you work in the UK public sector or services which were once public sector? Are you isolated in your workplace? If yes, a seminar is being organised for you at the UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London, NW1 2AY on Saturday 15 March 2014 from 11am to 3pm. Lunch will be provided. Call for art submissions An exhibition is to be held in April 2014 in central London to coincide with the annual TUC Black Workers Conference at the same venue, TUC HQ, Congress House. The curator (Zita Holborne) is seeking young (aged under 30) Black artists to participate. The Exhibition will showcase the art of young Black artists at a time when cuts to arts funding and the disproportionate impact of cuts and austerity are having a multiple impact on young Black people. Those interested in participating who meet the criteria should send 3 pieces of art, with titles, size and medium together with a short biography and the reasons you would like to take part zholbourne@aol and put TUC Exhibition in the subject box. 6. Race equality charter mark consultation The consultation for the race equality charter mark draft framework has been launched They are keen to hear from as many people as possible including relevant staff and students, and particularly Black/BME staff and student groups and individuals.
