Start of the first moto at Conroe MX Park, 1981. Hey wait a minute! Why are there two guys on each bike?!? How did that guy get on the back of my Husky 430CR??? My went to Conroe one Sunday for a regular race and during the riders meeting found out they were having a doubles race. David and I looked at each other, and having the combined IQ of a cucumber said why not? They had a short practice so we cranked around on my 81 Husky CR430. With all that weight on the rear end, even as far forward as I could sit, that SOB would pull a totally vertical wheelie in every gear. Given its 50hp, I really thought Id pull the holeshot, but here we are getting smoked by guys weighing 100 lbs. each on their 125s, which couldnt do a wheelie with two guys on it if they had to.
