Started its 2nd Workcamp De Okelaar is a cohousing project in the countryside close to Brussels. It used to be a school and monastery. The project’s three pillars are ecological, social and spiritual, the last one taken very broadly: respect for the others and the earth. The ecological part is taken very seriously in the way they renovate and also in the way they live. They use natural material for renovating, collaborate with a “self-harvest” organic farm. The vision on the social part consists of caring for each other, which is mainly seen in the central role they will be playing in the neighbourhood through providing communal public spaces and stimulate interaction. Social, inclusive living units will be part of the project too. Volunteers are safely arrived at the project yesterday, some pictures of introducation and showing around the project.
