Starting Thursday January 1st, up until a few days after that, we ALL will be inundated with people’s BS New Years Resolutions to start going to the gym, stop cheating on their wife/husband and stop masturbating with only the left hand before their dick starts to bend like a goalie stick. These people never achieve any substantive LONG TERM change, they just pump themselves up so they feel good – up until Jan. 11th and then they are back to their regularly-scheduled Bullsh*t. Now when I make my New Years Resolution I take into account that the change of the year is monumental in its symbolism, but ultimately meaningless in the grand scheme of human behaviour. Having to put a new calendar on your wall as of 12:01 AM on January 1st is NOT going to make you bigger, better, faster, stronger, smarter and more determined – IF you were NONE of those things on December 31st at 11:59 PM. I know my strengths, my weaknesses and what is truly in my own heart, therefore instead of making plans to completely change, I only have made one Resolution for the last 20 years: I will work hard enough to be BLESSED with new problems. One of the many constants in all human life is the fact that we will always have PROBLEMS. No matter how much we reach our goals or fail at them, we will always have tough issues to work through. But another constant of life is CHANGE, and with new issues will come new problems. I believe if you are working genuinely hard in the direction of your dreams then the problems you will be BLESSED with will be indicative of one very important fact: You did NOT remain stagnant over the course of the year. “I’d rather die enormous, than live dormant” – Jay-Z ‘Can I Live’ If there is one thing that has scared me ever since I was a little boy and first made this Resolution was the concept of NOT moving forward in my life. I never wanted to grow OLD and WHUTLESS – I always wanted to make the most out of my time on this earth and your problems are a great measuring stick for how much progress you’ve made in your own life. If this time, last year, your biggest problems were lifes struggles and the fact you can’t get a job, and those are STILL your same biggest problems a whole year later, you just wasted a WHOLE Damn Year of your life and ain’t got sh*t to show for it. In my life I knew I would have tough times, but as I persevered, I tried to work hard enough so that my advancement in life would preclude me from my previous BS problems and introduce me to new obstacles, though still extremely difficult, that would be indicative of the fact that I did make a change during those 365 days that was predicated on realistic hard-work and not idealistic delusions of grandeur. So to ALL My FB friends and to the people that follow me, I wish that all your hard work next year BLESSES you with new PROBLEMS. – If your biggest problem this year is being broke and not having a career, I hope your biggest problem next year is finding the time to juggle your friends and family with all the hours of work you now have and deciding who you might need to CUT OFF because they always asking you for money. – If your biggest problem this year is being single and lonely, I hope your biggest concern next year is deciding whether to have your destination wedding in Portugal, Brazil, Barbados or Jamaica, etc. the list can go on but Ill leave it at that. Have a prosperous new year and walk confidently in the direction of everything that brings you Happiness.
