Stephanie Stine (double major in Studio Art Sculpture and Art History, with a minor in Chemistry) is currently Student Assistant in the conservation and preservation department of Milner Library - Illinois State University. Steph was hired into this position after completing an internship with former conservator at Milner, Andrew Huot. Shes currently working on repairing the cover of a paperback copy of Walker Evans American Photographs, used by Associate Professor Bill ODonnell in his classroom. Close at hand is a jar of PH neutral PVA adhesive, often used in contemporary professional bookbinding and repairs. Steph works with a great group of professionals devoted to fixing broken and damaged text blocks and their bindings, creating archival housings for objects in Milners collection, and offering workshops on related topics. Ross Griffiths, Head of Preservation and University Archives, and Jessica Martin, Lab Technician, generously offered both informative and humorous glimpses into the life of one of Milners most important departments. #isuart
