Stephen H. Galluccio August 22, 2014 WATERTOWN, N.Y. — Stephen H. Galluccio, 62, of 702 Lansing St., passed away Friday afternoon, Aug. 22, at his home surrounded by his family, friends and Hospice of Jefferson County following a yearlong battle with ALS. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, at Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home. Born Sept. 16, 1951, in Watertown, a son to Hugo and Theresa Spaziani Galluccio, he was a 1970 graduate of Watertown High School and received his associates degree from Jefferson Community College in 1972. He worked for the New York Air Brake Co. for 40 years retiring in November 2013 after 40 years of service. Stephen was a lifelong drummer in many local bands, beginning at age 14. He traveled on a mission trip to Turkey to play Christian music in a band with his friend and co-musician Tim Grant in the late 1990s. Stephen had a passion for trains and was a member of the Watertown Railroad Club. He was also a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge. Stephen was an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees, New York Giants, the Syracuse Orangemen, the Boston Celtics and the Philadelphia Flyers. He coached Pop Warner football and Little League and Grasshopper baseball. He was a huge Dave Matthews fan and is well known for his chocolate meatball cookies. Surviving are his wife, Laurie (Phillips) Galluccio; a son and daughter-in-law, Bannon and Michaelene; a daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Alex Soluri; four grandchildren Gianna Soluri, Hugo Galluccio, Sofia Soluri and Jasper Galluccio, all of Watertown; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Anthony Galluccio, Florida; Edmund and Yolanda Galluccio, Watertown; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Allan Smith, W. Va.; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father in 1974, his mother in 2013, a sister-in-law Mrs. Sharon Galluccio, wife of Anthony, and his dog and friend Cassie, who passed at the time of his diagnosis with ALS in August of last year.
