Steve Park Memorial In addition to the stories I posted below, we have now finalized plans for Steve’s Phoenix memorial. We are going to hold it on Saturday, March 7th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. in the East Courtyard at the Pointe Hilton at Tapatio Cliffs. (11111 North 7th Street, Phoenix, 85020). We picked this location because Steve’s first “real” job was working in the tennis pro shop at the Pointe in the summer of 1986. He kept that job until he left for college in 1988, and I took it over after that. Our hope is that this will seem more like a reunion than a memorial service. We envision this as a time for Steve’s friends to meet, share some stories, and hopefully laugh a lot. Because, when he wasn’t working, Steve almost exclusively wore sweatpants (in the winter) and shorts and/or a bathing suit (in the summer), the dress is extremely casual. We will serve food (my wife says they are called “heavy appetizers” which from what I can tell is not a formal meal but there should be plenty to eat), and drinks. This isn’t reserved for Steve’s best friends-- anyone who knew Steve and would like to come is more than welcome. If you plan to attend, can you please let me know?
