Still on Cagsawa Dos Siglos The current situation of Daraga is one that has something to do with the commemoration of Cagsawa Ruins as the only living remnants of 1814 eruption, and of the culture practiced even before history evolved itself into being. Significantly, the present generation can derive lessons based not only on history as retold, or customs and tradition inherited but also on the actualities of events being performed all in connections of the month-long celebration. The Cagsawa Ruins is a symbol of faith immortalized by our continued and tireless efforts thru this festival to preserve even beyond mans memory what was virtually embraced by our ancestors. It is also a symbol of our culture embedded in each generation, a culture that makes our faith more paramount to what we are doing. What Daraga would become and to where its people will be heading amplify the characters generated therefrom. It also typifies the foundation of our strength, morally, physically, and emotionally. Our mind set in times of disaster is always towards security, survival and growth. Priorly, and as it is now, Daraguenos have not shown an attitude of gloom or dispair regardless of the kind and nature of calamity or disaster that had come or will come their way. This is not pure physical toughness but more aptly, faith in the Almighty and culture of resiliency to face all the odds in the spirit of survival. If before, survival was an art. Today, survival is more of a science with modern technologies guiding human skills and experience.
