Stop the Senseless Slaughter Please sign this Petition to Immediately stop the relocation of Bighorn Sheep and the Assassination of Mountain Lions in the Santa Ana Catalina Mountains In November of 2013, thirty-one (31) Bighorn Sheep were relocated to Pusch Ridge in the Santa Ana Catalina Mountains of Arizona. In a combined effort, both Wildlife Management and Arizona Game and Fish are attempting to reestablish Bighorn Sheep in an environment that has, historically, proven to be unsuitable for the species largely due to deforestation from climate and forest fires; natural causes eventually led to their death or migration to other regions. Over the years, Mountain Lions have grown a healthy population in this habitat. As of Wednesday, March 5, 2013, thirteen (13) Bighorn Sheep have died and three (3) Mountains Lions have been killed by agency officials for preying on the sheep. The same agencies are planning on Relocating another thirty (30) sheep again in November 0f 2014. Such small numbers cannot hope to adapt to their surroundings and survive to reproduce and balance the population of their natural predators. This means that more sheep and lions will essentially be put to death.
