Strategy 101: One of the greatest fights of all time. I remember - TopicsExpress

Strategy 101: One of the greatest fights of all time. I remember watching this on a black and white television as a teenager. Ali had been stripped of the world heavy weight title because of his opposition to the Vietnam War. As a result he could not fight when for 3 or 4 years during the time when he was at his athletic peak. This was his first title fight against an opponent who was younger and fitter and stronger. Ali’s strategy was to surprise his opponent by doing the unexpected and aligned with this to employ intelligent tactics to defeat him. In short Ali may not have been bigger or stronger or more powerful than Foreman but he won because he was smarter. Watch the clip and think about Ali’s strategy and tactics and the difference between the two. My favourite line in this clip is at 8.55 where George Plimpton says he realised there was “design in the madness.” That sounds like a good tagline for this subject. https://youtube/watch?v=N44vdCqI7LI
