Students, here are some NEW fall internship opportunities! Please be sure that you meet all of the requirements set forth by the UTA Department of Communication as well as the requirements of the company before applying for an internship. We are currently accepting internship paperwork for fall 2013. All completed departmental internship applications, along with a copy of your unofficial transcript, should be dropped off at the main office, FA 118. D Magazine is offering an unpaid internship this semester to students who are able to work at least twelve hours per week on weekdays between 10 am and 4 pm. The deadline to apply for summer is July 25 and the start date will be August 28 if the applicant is selected. Duties will include editorial, advertising, marketing, circulation and web. ARC of Greater Tarrant County is a non-profit organization that assists community members who have intellectual disabilities with basic life skills. Communication interns would be responsible for assisting with community exposure through their Facebook page and website. Students may also assist with petitions for disability rights and teaching consumers about communicating. This opportunity is unpaid, does not require college credit be received, and has the potential to be hired afterwards. The schedule is flexible. Interns will need to remember that they are serving a specific population and will require lots of patience and sensitivity to needs. Agency Entourage offers a full range of digital marketing services and is looking for an intern for the fall. Internships are unpaid, require 20-25 hours of work each week. Schedules are flexible and attire is casual. The offices of Agency Entourage are located in downtown Dallas. Duties of interns vary each day. There is a lot of opportunity for one on one time with employees, allowing for a more in-depth learning of the skill. Interns will assist with managing client accounts, attending industry events, working on projects for clients and more. The Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program is looking for students to fill their 29 positions to assist in raising public awareness about reducing our petroleum consumption. To qualify, students need to be studying communications, public relations, business, marketing, engineering or environmental sciences. This position requires 30 to 40 hours of work per week and includes a stipend ranging from $3,600 - $6,000 depending on academic classification and number of hours assigned by the coalition. New Friends New Life provides education, job training and various forms of support to women and children who have overcome obstacles to live a better life. NFNL is looking for a Children and Youth Advocate intern to assist with developing and implementing curriculum for children’s enrichment and mentoring programs and assisting with events and fundraisers. Requirements include experience with children, effective communication with diverse groups and preferably be majoring in communication studies or journalism. Interns are given credit in exchange for payment and work 12-20 hours each week during the fall. This position requires a high level of confidentiality.
