Suggestion, subject to the agreement of the moderator: The Entomology Open Group would be more useful and interesting if people would make an attempt to identify the type of insect shown in a posted image, or at least say something about it, like where it was found, what season, or what habitat. Many photos just say “ID please” or give no information at all. The species name is just one level of the ‘name’, and not always possible. It would be better if the photographer tried to give more background, perhaps suggest the arthropod family name, or at least try to guess the order. A good start for non-specialists is available in websites such as the two below. The most interesting posts are those that give the place and date, with a guess at the type of insect or arachnid, and some observation such as “feeding on cassava”, or “emerged after rain”. insectidentification.org/identifying.asp bugguide.net Suggestion: Write the location and date.
