Suhyun Kim, Cheering & Creativity - a CALLOUT special Today were really happy to interviewed Suhyun. She is a univ student and also cheerleader. She do this for 4 years. Cheerleading is to intense physical activity for sports team motivation and audience entertainment. You guys can see this animated girl on baseball and basketball seasons in Korea. Now see what she think about creativity related her job. Q: What is creativity to you? A: For me, creativity is Not live my life comfortably. Because life is once only, it is boring to live ride with the tide. People who like their normal life dont know what is creativity. Im always seeking for fun and novelty in my life and I consider myself creative. Anyone can be creative even in daily life. Is it better spend every day differently than monotonous daily routine? Q: What inspires you? From lots of thins, but the greatest inspiration for me is cheerleaders from other sports team. If any team has had a great show using props, the desire came to me: I want to create better show than that team did. A team create a new cheering song and they get fervent response, for example, then I create a show which can be performed with the crowd rather than to get a lot of appeal to them. Or other singers and dance teams will also inspire me. There are so many interesting videos in Youtube so that make me think like Act like thinks will be better in this part, This costumes will be suit in this song and etc. Watching this kind of videos, I can keep our team getting better. Q: When do you think creative is important in your work? A: The most important role of cheerleader is boosting the morale of athletes and cheering with fans. And I dont want to do performance that is similar or the same with the other team. So I think I become creative when I performing the show. In order to creative and stick out, presenting a new performance which is different everyday will be better for crowd who see our show and also for us. So we regularly change our music list and choreograph faster than anyone when a new song is released. We organize our performance our own because we dont want our show become stale and normal. Once I heard from our fans that they like us because our team has its own personality and color. When I heard like that, I feel like creative have a large impact on my job. Q: What do you think about showing your creations to other people? A: I think positively to showing my creations. Its because my job is. The big reason why people are coming to stadium is to see the sports game. Recently, cheerleader occupy a large part in sports. Some people say that they are coming to stadium to see the cheerleaders. There are many times that we can cheer with the crowd. If people think our show is boring, their response is not good. So we practice more and create more novel show. The words cannot express my feeling that cheering with a newly created cheering from us, showing that and getting frenzied applause from the crowd. And why I continue this work is I want this exhilarating feeling that comes from crowds acclaim when I stand on the stage in front of people. Q: Are you satisfied with you job? what is your plans for the future? A: I really love my job and I am working happily. I still have a long way to go. I have a desire to make my cheerleading team best. Of course I think mine is the best among currently active teams. And Our team stand alone. Although our team is generally admitted the first team in this area, I wont be satisfied with our present position. I want to make my team popular in the world by developing constantly. Now Im beginning to see what Im still hungry is. I have a great desire to look for a better life rather than satisfy in current situation.
