Summer League Week Six round-up We have seen a change at the top of the table, with the Crabs (Charly Talumepa and co.) taking over the no. 1 spot thanks to an emphatic bonus‐point win over the Newts. The Stingrays (Terry Lee and co.) lost their no. 1 spot on the table due to an unexpected 7:6 loss to the Ninjas (Nathan Watson and co.) who had been languishing at the bottom of the table before this weeks round. The Jaguars (Jae Lee and co.) held on to third place by narrowly beating the Meerkats (Matthew Ball and co.) who are now only just holding on to fourth place. The biggest mover of the week were the Ducks (Dean Lochhead and co.), thanks to a comprehensive 10:3 win over the Mice (Miko Kirschbaum and co.). With just one more week to go before the competition is split into the top‐4 and bottom‐4 teams for the following three weeks, the Crabs, Stingrays and Jaguars have already booked their place in the top group, while the Ninjas, Mice and Newts are confined to the bottom group. The only open question is whether the Meerkats or the Ducks will take the last remaining spot in the top‐4. Both teams are now equal on points and will meet in the final round. The winner of that match will qualify for the top‐4, with the losing team left to play off for positions 5‐8. While results from the first section of the competition will not be carried over to the second sections, the team finishing first by next week will nonetheless start the second section with an extra 3 bonus points, the second‐placed team with 2 bonus points and third‐placed team with 1 point. So, there are still points to play for even though teams may have already qualified for their participation in the top group. This weeks joint Players of the Week are Aaron Su and Neil Miller with 35‐point rating jumps, each, followed by Ross Avery (20 points) and Gordon Baker (12 points). Order of Merit Dean Lochhead 2000 points Aaron Su 1000 points Neil Miller 500 points Gordon Baker 250 points Don Cooper 250 points
