#Sun-DaySchool: The TRUE goddesses of black women! :) I have covered the feminist movement, and Gloria Man Killer, but only towards Glorias key parts as she was officially commissioned by the government specifically to destabilize the liberation movement of the 60s, but more importantly turn black women into the key agents of the destruction, by getting them to abandon the civil rights fight, and BLACK UNITY to womens rights, and individualism, which is a very stark contrast to AFRIKAN idealism of it takes a VILLAGE to raise one child, but now, Ill give you an overall view of the struggle ALL women supposedly had, but FORGOT to mention the oppressors WERE ONLY WHITE MEN! :) The feminist movement was not rigidly structured or led by a single figure or group at inception. As one feminist wrote, The womens movement is a non-hierarchical one. It does things collectively and experimentally. In fact, the movement was deeply divided between young and old, upper-class and lower-class, conservative and radical. Betty Friedan was determined to make the movement a respectable part of mainstream society and distanced herself from what she termed the bra-burning, anti-man, politics-of-orgasm school of feminism; she even spent years HIGHLIGHTING that the young feminist leader Gloria Steinem had sinister links to the FBI and CIA. Younger feminists, for their part, distrusted the older generation and viewed NOW as stuffy and out of touch: NOWs demands and organizational style werent radical enough for us. When these divides were combined with a reluctance to choose official leaders for the movement, it gave the media an opening to anoint its own feminist leaders, leading to resentment within the movement. Meanwhile, in this leadership vacuum, the most assertive women promoted themselves as leaders, prompting attacks from other women. Nonetheless, women like Gloria Steinem and Germaine Greer attracted media attention through both their popular writings and their appealing image. They played a key role representing feminism to the public and the media — providing attractive examples of women who were feminists, fitting the negative stereotypes of humorless, ugly, man-hating shrews.
