Sunday Night 01/11/15: Message: Bro. Randy Underwood - Nehemiah 2:17-18. The city was in ruin and no one noticed Nehemiah when he arrived. The people had given up on rebuilding cleaning up the rubble and mess of their city. This city they loved so much was in ruin. So Nehemiah brings them together that were with him and addresses the condition of the city. They sighed in defeat at the sight of the city knowing they were in a state of vulnerability to the enemy and had no defenses or protection. They questioned if it was possible to rebuild and if it was even worth it. When Nehemiah heard this and saw the city, he spoke to them of the hand of God and his power to strengthen them. Th is hand of God will give us the confidence to face utter destruction and have faith that God will give is the strength to rebuild. If Gods hand be upon us, we can overcome. When we get this mindset the enemy will do everything to distract us and instill fear or doubt in our minds. So the people put their minds to the task with faith and rebuilt the walls and towers of the city. They had no other concern but to rebuild the city and d9 this work of God. The enemies mocked them but they carried on. Then the enemy attacked them but Nehemiah set up a watch guard and the work continued. Then discouragement came from within. The people grew weary. But Nehemiah reminded them of what God had done for them and how he had set his hand upon them and they were encouraged and returned to the rebuilding of the wall. The work of the Lord is not without opposition whether from the enemy or from within. But we have to remember that his hand is upon us and he has given us the power we need. Each person has their own portion of the wall to build and it is our responsibility to do our part. If we put our best effort foreword, God will place his hand upon us.
