Sunday-Weekday Connection for Today "Why should I fear in times of trouble, when the iniquity of my persecutors surrounds me, those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches? Truly, no ransom avails for one’s life, there is no price one can give to God for it. For the ransom of life is costly, and can never suffice that one should live on forever and never see the grave. When we look at the wise, they die; fool and dolt perish together and leave their wealth to others. Their graves are their homes forever, their dwelling places to all generations, though they named lands their own. Mortals cannot abide in their pomp; they are like the animals that perish." ~ Psalm 49:5-12 1) The Psalmist reminds us of the hard fact that all of us must die eventually, no matter how rich or how poor, how wise or how ignorant we may be. Why do you think he is reminding us of this fact? How does the fact of our human mortality impact your daily life, if at all? 2) What might the Lord be calling you to change about your life with these words? If you knew that you had one year to live, what would you change about your daily choices? What would you change about your attitudes? How would you choose to spend your time? Is there something you need to change as a result of contemplating this question?
