Sweet Pea (Blue-fronted Amazon) and Grauly (Congo African Grey) - TopicsExpress

Sweet Pea (Blue-fronted Amazon) and Grauly (Congo African Grey) are home! Grauly and Sweet Pea came to TGF nearly a year ago from separate lives but similar situations. Each one had been a treasured companion of now elderly parents, and with their life changes, family caregivers contacted us to accept the birds. After 30 years, both birds found themselves in a completely different environment from anything they’d known before. Birds seldom fail to amaze us every day. Their resilience, their ability to assess a new situation, to measure up the people who care for them, to carefully or even slowly check out a new environment is an inspiration to respect each of our new arrivals as a study of one. When long time bird caregivers Judy and Richard lost their own beloved birds, Beek and Ally, they missed the shared daily routine that their own birds had brought into their lives for nearly 30 years. It’s simply a fluke that both Grauly and Sweet Pea are the species as Beek and Ally. We asked Judy and Richard if they had room in their hearts to provide Grauly and Sweet Pea a home, and after careful considerations, visits to meet and interact with the birds – they agreed. A few days ago the 4 of them returned to their beautiful mountain home in Twin Lakes, CO, and they are now a family.
