Texas Star Rescue in Longview, Texas rescues many dogs from Texas and Louisiana. Unfortunately, dogs from the south that are not on monthly preventative get heart worms. A large number of dogs we rescue have heart worms, but not all of them need what is called the fast kill treatment, but unfortunately, a large number of them do. These dogs will require the fast kill treatment due to the severity of their heart worms. The treatment is approximately $400 per dog for large breed dogs. The treatment includes 2-3 injections of Immiticide to kill the heart worms. Once these dogs have gone through heart worm treatment, they will be ready for their forever homes.
