TALES AND TAILS I have been feeling such an inner compulsion to read Beelzebubs Tales to His Grandson in a unique way, unlike I have done before. I thought I could do it by simultaneously reading and listening to it (the Anthony Blake version) because this requires me to keep my mind absolutely clear. I tried doing this for the first 75 pages. But it just didnt capture that ‘something’ what I wanted. Then I thought that maybe if I insert a Mindfulness bell. So I imported all 41.3 hours into Audacity and added a bell every 16 seconds to bring my awareness back to self-sensing. That took nearly 15 hours. Nope. Didnt achieve the effect I wanted. Even though I still didn’t know what that was. Then I tried to read along. Hoping seeing, hearing and speaking would do it. Nope. Nope. And Nope. Then I remembered something an old hypnosis instructor said. The most important course a hypnotist can take is acting lessons. So what would happen, if rather than just reading it out loud as if to a friend, I pretended it was a script and that I had to read it in character and to imagine myself as an actor playing the various characters: ACCORDING TO the numerous deductions and conclusions made by me during experimental elucidations concerning the productivity of the perception by contemporary people of new impressions from what is heard and read... Yes. Yes. And Yes. Talk about automatically self-sensing and developing an acute physical awareness while attempting to speak and inhabit the words as if they were my own. And of course, if our dear grandfather Beelzebub is even half as vain as Mr. Gurdjieff implies -- because after all curls are never natural -- wont he be at least a little bit curious to check out how he is being portrayed.
