TAMILS and April 2009 Parliment Hill in OTTAWA Irene Mathyssen Meet With TAMILS with CTC Irene Mathyssen Asks Prime Minister to Respond to Sri Lanka Crisis Wed 25 Feb 2009 On Friday, February 13th, 2009, fifty members of the Tamil community came to meet with Irene Mathyssen. These Londoners delivered to Irene a letter asking the NDP to speak out on the Sri Lankan crisis, a petition to the Government of Canada and to describe the terrifying reality facing the people of Sri Lanka. In the coming days, Irene and members of the NDP caucus will be presenting these petitions in the House of Commons. On February 20th, Irene wrote to the Prime Minister and asked him to respond to the humanitarian crisis arising from the political conflict in Sri Lanka. On February 26th, the Sri Lanka community thanked Irene for her efforts. Dear Madam: We the Tamil Community in London thank you from the Bottom of the heart for the timely action you have taken by informing the Prime Minister Stephan Harper the Plight of the Srilankan Tamils in Srilanka. The aid that is being sent to Srilanka to alleviate the suffering of the Tamils has to be sent to the ICR or other aid agencies.
