TANELORN STREAMSIDE PLANTING DAY - CALLING NORTHLAND - TopicsExpress

TANELORN STREAMSIDE PLANTING DAY - CALLING NORTHLAND VOLUNTEERS! Friday 18th July 9.30am-3.30pm Reconnecting Northland* is sponsoring the creation of a buffer zone along the river that borders the lower paddock at our property, Tanelorn, at 476 Old Russell Road, Whakapara. The buffer zone, or riparian margin, will play a part in improving the quality of the water that ultimately flows into the Kaipara Harbour. We have around 1200 flax, manuka and cabbage tree seedlings to plant and we really could do with some assistance. If you could spare a few hours that would be very much appreciated. No previous experience required, but youll need appropriate footwear and clothing and a spade or fork if you can manage that. Bring a packed lunch if youre staying the day. Additional refreshments will be provided. A composting toilet will be available for use and a stock- operated pasture pump will be on show. Please email mick.tiempo@gmail if youd like to take part, indicating whether morning, afternoon or all day, and well send you further information. If the weather is foul on 18th July, then well re-schedule for the following week, Friday 25th July. With many, many thanks Mick Kelly and Sarah Granich * Reconnecting Northland is an ecological restoration project organised by the NZ Landcare Trust and WWF-New Zealand. It aims to restore a range of natural processes and ecosystems across the whole region, while also building environmental, social, cultural and economic resilience. Many thanks to Jon Hampson at Landcare for making this planting event possible.
