TEACH IT THURSDAYS NY1 is a well respected news station in NYC that has a segment they do called NY’er Of The Week where they showcase local New Yorkers who are doing great things in their community. In early 2012, a classroom of students from P.S.119 in Bklyn led by their teacher Karen LaRossa had sent in a bagful of hand written letters to the station. They described in detail the work that I was doing with them through my non-profit organization called Rock Asylum Foundation and how much the experience helped them. Then to everyone’s surprise, NY1 replied back and chose me as their NY’er Of The Week and did an interview and video segment on me and the foundation in April of that year.
