THE GIFT OF HUMILITY “Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, - TopicsExpress

THE GIFT OF HUMILITY “Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:3-5 Too many times we think of our job as a means of supporting our needs and that of our family. Financial support is important and a worthy objective, but when we fail to look at our job as a calling, we fall short of being a servant. Servanthood requires more than a talent or ability; it requires the special gift of humility, sometimes called a spiritual gift. Humility enables us to do those things we thought impossible. We are able to place the needs of others ahead of our own. Our life becomes Christ-like and our work becomes a joy in spite of circumstances. We see others as Jesus wants us to see them. The transformation becomes obvious to those around us and to God. Humility opens doors of opportunity to serve. The biggest change will come in the way we exhort one another- loving one another, honoring one another, caring for one another, serving one another, carrying one another’s burden, accepting one another, and praying for one another. Our love for our fellow workers, family, patients and God will give us a servant’s heart. PRAYER Fill us with the humility of Christ as we serve others today. Amen.
