THE HEALING POWER OF PECULIAR FAITH! September Faith Series Sermons Prepared by Pastor Charles Chanda: Pretoria, South Africa! Matthew 8:10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. We have only one more day to end our Faith series. I believe God has done something for you just as He has done great things for me. My life will never be the same after this series and I am optimistic so is the case with you. In my more than twenty five years of following Christ, I have not been exposed to such a series. I have been energized by the spirit of faith. As we get to the close, we come across a passage that should make you and I wonder. A man who was not among the disciples manifested the most peculiar faith which Christ had not yet seen in Israel. It was indeed a peculiar faith. May the Lord baptize you and me with such a faith that will become the master key to obtain heavenly blessings in Jesus Name. Matthew 8:5-13 5 And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, 6 And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. 7 And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. 8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. 9 For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 10 When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. 12 But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 13 And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour. This centurion had a servant who was sick and through his love and compassion, sought for the solution to this ailment. He heard of Christ’s healing power and went to seek for help on the behalf of the servant. How many people are there today like this man ? Its worse in the church where people have forgotten the meaning of the word “care”. Pastors neglect Christian workers they have raised through tears to die in their troubles because they are taking care of themselves and their families. May God forgive the church of today in Jesus Name. Christians no longer fast for others but for themselves and this is why our problems are not being solved. Think about others and show a little bit of love and kindness. How do we get this peculiar faith? 1. Resting on the Lord’s Compassion! Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick 2 Chronicles 36:15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: Psalm 78:38 But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. Psalm 86:15 But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth. Psalm 145:8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. God will never rejoice over your troubles. People of today including some so called believers will rejoice when they hear that someone who left the church was in trouble. Some even say I knew it that God will deal with the person. You are a prophet of doom and have no place in the loving kingdom of our merciful and compassionate God. Friend who made you to be a spokesman of the compassionate God? This is why some churches are filled with new comers and the number of backsliders is more that the actual church membership. May the Lord forgive you in Jesus Name. 2. Complete Submission to the Infallible Word! “but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed” How much of God’s word do you have in your heart? 2 Chronicles 20:20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? Acts 5:42 And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 19:9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus Acts 2:46 And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, The early church gathered daily and the result was that there were few backsliders. Today Christians meet once a week for less than two hours and if the time goes beyond three hours, sinning through murmuring starts inside the church. You will be surprised that sixty percent of the time in some churches is spent in what we call praise and worship through dancing and by the time the sermon is preached, we are tired, hungry and thirsty. You will be lucky to have fifty percent awake during the sermon. Let’s give the word its rightful place and power will be restored back to the church in Jesus Name. We need revival. 3. ASSURANCE OF GUARANTEED ANSWERS! “And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour” Once we exercise personal faith based on what the Lord has promised, answers are guaranteed. God will never let you down. Claim your miracle now!
