THE HOLY SPIRIT:His nature!His Origin!His Work!Question!Is the Holy Spirit a HE or IT?A force or a Person!Where,in the plan of salvation does he feature?Does it matter if I consider him as he or it??I will be very basic in my exposition!True SDAs will see this as a mere revision!While a Jehovahs Witnesses,some Pentecostals,Muslims and others it will be seen as a divergent view,but bear with me!.We will begin with a strange pronouncment from our master:Mathew 12vs31:Wherefore,all manner of sin and blasphemy will be forgiven unto men:but the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit(Ghost) shall not be forgiven.And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of Man,it shall be forgiven him,but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost,it shall not be forgiven him,neither in this world ,or the world to comeHere we must answer this:If the Holy Ghost is an it,why this warning?Why The Holy Spirit can not forgive if he is a mere force or itHE IS GOD!He was active in creation:Genesis 1vs1,2.He was active in the incarnation of Christ:Luke 1vs35.Yes he is truly GOD!(Acts5vs3,4:why has satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Spirit....You have not lied to man but to GodAn impersonal force can not be lied to!!He can be grieved and be offended:Ephesians 4vs30Do not grieve the Holy Spirit.He Can forbid,direct and allow(Acts 16vs6,7):Now when they had gone through out phrygia and the region of Galatia,and were forbidden Of the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia....He CHOOSES AND GIVES. SPIRITUAL GIFTS! as he wills:(1Corrinth12vs11)But all these worketh that one and the same Spirit,dividing to every man as severally as he willHE INSPIRED THOSE that wrote the Bible:2 Peter 1vs21.JESUS refers to Him as Him not it!(John 16vs13.He renews the image of GOD in man(2 Corrinth3vs18)....are being changed into the same image from glory to glory,even as by the Spirit of the LordHe convicts,convinces,and reproves!(John 16vs 8-10)His equality to the Father and the Son is underlined in (1)Baptism formula(Mathew 28vs19).Apostolic Blessings(2 Corrinth13vs14).He can decide to forgive or not(Mathew 12vs32).He guides the operation of the church by seeking his guidance(Acts 13vs9)Brethren!The Holy Spirit is not an impersonal ,mindless force!He is our God!The third person of the Godhead!Our continual rejection of his prompts constitute Blasphemywhich Christ was addressing in Mathew 12.those who treat him as mere force are in danger of the same sin of blasphemy!When the bible says God dwells in our hearts,it refers to the Holy Spirit!(1 Corrinth 6vs15)Know ye not that ye are the temple of God. And that the Spirit of God dwells in you?The Holy Spirit is the actuator!He makes our prayers make sense and acceptable(Romans 8vs28).It explains why if I reject HIM I have no Hope!He is our God and he is a person in the GODHEAD!
