THE LESSONS NEVER LEARNT I have until now restrained myself from commenting on political activities but the current disheartening unfolding events have compelled me to reconsider my stance in national interest. The wrangles that have engulfed the once mighty ruling party & now biggest opposition party MMD by unsettling DR. Nevers Mumba as its presidential candidate in favour of DR. Rupiah Banda in the 20th January 2015 presidential elections cannot be compared to the unfolding events in the ruling Patriotic Front. The unfolding events in the ruling PF have the potential to degenerate into chaos & threaten the peace & security of our nation, if not well handled. These happenings may as well erode investor confidence, drive away foreign direct investments, which in turn may reverse the economic gains the country has made in the last few years. It is against this background that we call upon the 10 PF presidential contenders to take the party & national interests as a matter of priority as opposed to individual egos & personal interests. While Intra-party democracy & competition is healthy for quality & acceptable leadership as demonstrated the world over at various levels of leadership both at institutional, national & international levels. The 10 competitors must realise that theyre can only be one president, in this case, & leader at any one given time. Therefore, i call upon the leaders of the party to exercise leadership & wisdom so that they can prevail over these sad developments & move the party forward. A house divided against itself cannot surely stand. So let their be a ceasefire & unity of purpose in the party. Let dialogue, love in the spirit of reconciliation & team work take centre stage as opposed to factions of the so called Cartel, Clique or MOB. If the PF does not learn from its earlier mistakes & the mistakes of other parties before them, organise themselves & rally behind one popular candidate, the party risks facing a humiliating defeat in the January 20th presidential election & posterity will judge them harshly. Infact, the PF has more to lose than the so called Cartel or any grouping if they leave government. May the Church, SACCORD & or other credible people with ability & wisdom help out PF, for the sake of peace, unity & national security in our beloved mother Zambia. May GOD BLESS Zambia...!!!
