THE MOST AMAZING NIGERIAN BOOK ON SUCCESS!! (This is a re-Post of an article i wrote for a Mgazine in 2011) " For years, people had always believed that success and achievement in life were unpredictable. ‘God’, they said, is the author of success. Others put it on ‘Mother Luck’. The 20th Century was going to change all that. After 26 years of studying the most successful men and women alive, American, Napoleon Hill came to a paradigm-shifting conclusion. Yes, God and luck had a role to play, but success was largely predictable. But the catch is, it depends mainly on what you do (or what you fail to do)! Since then, there’ve been an avalanche of books seeking to unveil the core secrets of success. Nigeria has not been left out in this as some of her authors have attempted to take on this issue of achievement. So, why on earth do we need another book on success? But then, that’s where this book takes things to a whole new level. The book, “Learn From The Icons – Footprints of 50 Great Nigerians.” Yes, many success books have been written, even by Nigerians. But they all sought to verify their claims by drawing illustrations from Bill Gates, Mahatma Gandhi, and a host of other foreigners. What on earth happened to Nigerians? Do these same principles work here? What proof do we have? Many have declared that these couldn’t work in Nigeria’s chaotic and unpredictable environment. But the young men, Too Nwoye and Chukwuebuka Lucky Umezulike (aka Chambers) set out on a mission to challenge that assumption. After months of effort, the result was this groundbreaking book that departs from the trends in Nigerian Success literature. Instead of proving their point with the stories of Bill Gates and others, they used our own people. Our own 2 Face Idibia, Aliko Dangote, Philip Emeagwali and many others. The 1st part of the book concentrated on setting forth a philosophy of success based on the lives of these ones. And the 2nd part went a step further to give detailed life histories of these 50 great individuals who have so helped our nation. This remarkable book is many things to many people. You can call it a self-help book, you are on track. Call it a motivational or success book, you are right. You may go ahead and describe it as a book that celebrates the greatness of our nation and her people, and you won’t be wrong. Or you can call it a documentary or a citation or a partial biography of the movers and shakers of our nation. And the beautiful thing is, they don’t dwell on the past. You won’t find the great Zik of Africa or Obafemi Awolowo or any of our heroes past! Yes, these ones have paid their dues and deserve to always be celebrated. But all those cited in this book are alive and well and breathing and kicking and still working tirelessly for the growth of our great nation. Better celebrate people while they are still alive than when they are dead! Don’t you think so? So much has been said already. However, before I go, I would like to predict that this 287 page book is destined to become a classic in its genre. It is both timeless and very contemporary. At the risk of sounding over-flattering, I wish to state that this is one of the most amazing books I’ve ever read and probably the most extraordinary book on success I’ve ever read, written by a Nigerian! It’s truly a breath of fresh air in a nation where the wind of patriotism and change is blowing with an ever-increasing fervour."
