THE POVERTY GOSPEL vs THE PROSPERITY GOSPEL. Both are equally false and misleading and do not bring about resurrection or transformation, nor do they proclaim the true sacrifice of Christ. They are either self seeking or self defeating. The prosperity gospel is self seeking. It desires the rewards that come along with following Christ and will often pervert and peddle grace to get it, using His Holy name in vain for the love of money, power, status and position. The poverty gospel is self defeating. It will embrace the cross but reject the power that comes along with it, wallowing in a perpetual state of sorrow, self-pity and victimization. As a result, the new creation lies dormant inside of them never taking flight. The TRUE gospel is "treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you." 2 Corinthians 4:7
