THE STADIUM EFFECT ON PRESIDENT ERNEST BAI KOROMA IN THE EBOLA FIGHT BY JONATHAN HINDOLO KURABU please Share. Its now crystal clear that the notion HE WHO FEELS IT, KNOWS IT is now an axiom and its telling on the mood of our president . In as much as I doff my hat to all the role players in the fight against this recalcitrant invisible modern foe called EBOLA, I want to say with perspicacity that our President is the most confused person now in the country. Its now apparently clear that he underestimated the lethal nature of the Ebola virus since its genesis in our war torn country, a country still reeling from the impacts of a diabolic civil war that inevitably claimed thousands of lives, shattered our already anaemic economy and also exposed our porous security apparatus to nudity . Like the war years, Ebola is now reminiscent of those war years. It has exposed every facet of the country to the whole world. Our cherished sectors, Health , Security, Leadership OR governance among others ,have been reduced to nothingness. Spare me the time for another day to comment on the acidic effects of Ebola in Sierra Leone during the post Ebola phase. With the aforementioned, Our president is making use of whatever idea that comes his way. First it was Declaration of State of Public Health Emergency, Three days Lock Down, Operation Surge and Now A 7 day prayer and fasting. Perhaps the latter would help because my callow knowledge in the Holy reads tell me that Jesus started with prayers and ended with prayers and that such a carnage can only be solved with fervent prayer and fasting. Fellow Sierra Leoneans please correct me if Im wrong, in all the measures put in place by our president and NERC which among the bevy of them has got accolades? Instead of making in -roads in the fight thereby securing a Zero New Infection yet the numbers keep sky rocketing at an alarming rate. Are we winning the fight? Like the stadium effect, when Mercury wants to turn bad on its players, everyone of them would want to tear the coach apart by proffering possible solutions to winning the game. The coach then becomes the most confused or bemused person. I would rather omit the bemused word for our president because he deserves my respect . But truly speaking, he is confused. He needs divine wisdom. Mr president, you have done a great deal but I would prefer the prayer and fasting to all other strategies put in place to combat this unwelcome stranger, Ebola. As we sail into the shores of 2015 , I pray that we will succeed in the fight against Ebola as a nation but after Ebola, dont forget to strengthen all those weaknesses that have been made known to the entire world. On behalf of all patriotic Sierra Leoneans , let me hasten to wish you a prosperous New Year . Fellow Sierra Leoneans, uneasy lies the head that bears the crowd. The fight is now ours, the cure for Ebola is in you, report early if sick, dont harbour the sick, dont wash the dead, be positive in your sayings like a Positivo Radicalo and above all, lets seek the face of God. Except God watcheth over a nation, the watchman will watch in vain. Happy New year to you for your unperturbed perusal. @ JONATHAN HINDOLO KURABU NEWS EDITOR NJALA UNIVERSITY RADIO FM 92.5 (The First Regional Academic Radio )
