THE TRIBUTE SERIES Following the success of his creations of the Sponge series he followed by pulling into the fashion industry. He took famous designers and celebrities, stretched and twisted them to form iconic faces and logos on to his designs. In The TRIBUTE series, Mike recreates the logos featuring brand founders, creative directors and designers themselves imbued inside the recognizable logo with their brand DNA. Part of his designs includes Yves Saint Laurent and his representation of the YSL logo. Furthermore, the face and body of Chanel’s fashion designer and icon, Karl Lagerfeld takes shape as the Chanel symbol, the double Cs. It sounds melodramatic but Mike used his own way to represent these people and these logos, in his own style. Bringing forward the importance of these one of a kind entities in fashion. “I will be success when I die, cause I work hard everyday.” — Mike Frederiqo ABOUT MIKE FREDERIQO Mike Frederiqo, the young artist from The Netherlands, born in 1991. From the time he was able to hold a pencil, Mike was drawing and painting and couldn’t stop since. At a young age, he started as a tattoo artist while playing with graffiti on his spare time. However his focus turned towards illustrations and design and after his first project for Bapes soup, a creation based on Andy Warhol’s Campbell’s soup he came out with his own creations of T-shirts, the Sponge Series inspired by the cartoon SpongeBob. This collection brought attention from numerous publications and an invitation by world known Parisian concept store Colette to do a series of T- shirts to be sold in their store in Paris. Since then Mike has climbed the fashion ladder and is today to be found under his own label - Mike Frederiqo.
